16TH ANNUAL JOHNNY ROMANO SKATE JAM RAISES OVER 85K

DC and South Shore Distribution hosted the 16th annual Johnny Romano Skate Jam for the Make-A-Wish foundation, presented by Zumiez, this past weekend on Saturday, November 3rd 2012 at the Southside Skatepark in Houston, Texas.

Skateboarding’s largest charity event raised over $85,000 this year bringing the total over 16 years to an amazing $805,000. Twenty top skateboarding pros and fifty-one ams showed up to support the event including DC athletes Chris Cole, Nyjah Huston, Davis Torgerson, Wes Kremer, Matt Miller, Marquise Henry, Cyril Jackson, Evan Smith, Jett Eaton, Jagger Eaton, and Tom Schaar.

During the event DC and South Shore hosted a series of skate contests, autograph signings with the pros, and lots of product giveaways, all benefitting the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Cheers to DC skaters Nyjah Huston and Evan Smith for taking home four awards that day. Nyjah Huston won Best Trick-Street and Zumiez Best Trick while Evan Smith took 1st place in the Bowl Jam and the Zumiez Destroyer Award.

The JRSJ has raised more than $805,000 and each year 100 percent of the funds raised are donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Texas Gulf Coast & Louisiana Chapter. For additional information on the Johnny Romano Skate Jam please visit www.johnnyromanoskatejam.com.

Nyjah went home with two awards—Best Trick in the Street comp and the Zumiez Best Trick down the hubba, handrail, and stairs.

Evan back tails the handrail during the Zumiez Best Trick.

Nyjah Cab flip backside lipslides the A Frame rail in the Street comp.

Evan took a heavy slam and had to leave the contest early, so the DC team filled in to accept his Bowl Jam 1st Place and Zumiez Destroyer awards.
